Strengths
The majority of Struthers' Standardized Testing Scores are above the state average; that reflects on the school systems as a whole. It is a very good school system and the scores and performance of the students shows that. Another positive is Struthers' dropout rate is less than the state average. Also, Struthers is starting the STEM program which is going to benefit the youth throughout high school and college. It is a big advancement.
Weaknesses
Struthers unfortunately has students go through only one sex education class when they are eighth graders. Stated by an Language Art Teacher Mrs. Dubos- "I think this program should start earlier. In fifth grade for instance, and there should be multiple classes. Because some students by 8th grade have already experienced sex." A lot of children walk to school, which could be great for the community with pollution and it just shows how dense the community is, however with Ohio weather the winter season is not good walking weather. Finally, Struthers lacks a daycare with a nursery. This would benefit many families around the community if this type of care was offered right in the community.
